Monster Book

My sister (at my leading) made a Monster Book inspired by this one from Anthropologie. It's a pretty big book. All of the monsters are designed by her, embroidered and embellished by hand. It is made of all cloth and embellishments and took several months to make - working on and off in the evenings. I LOVE it. And so do my kids. I wrote the stories and came up with the names of each monster, which was so much fun because I get to read it to them and hear them say the names.

So far since the kids received this gift at Christmas, Noah has drawn each monster by memory once and each monster with the book in front of him twice. He LOVES the book. And they talk about it a lot.

Thanks Hil! You rock! And did I mention, the original book on Anthropologie costs over $1000! Ours is worth more :) Because the final monster in the book, "Harriet Googley Eyes" aka. the Hairy Eyeball Monster made the book for us - Aunt Hilly is the final monster...so fitting.

She may start making more on a smaller scale...she really enjoyed it.

hey I have not read the stories with this book but you two need to think about getting this published. It is cool and a big money maker.

ahh, thanks to you both.

doing well Jessica, hope you are too! love all of the outfits you make for Cara.

Lisa, not sure how that would look with the other woman, Ruth Ashton, having the idea and selling it first, I'm sure it's copyrighted....but Hilary said she would like to make/sell something similar on a smaller scale....

My friend Mandy showed this to me and I'm blown away! The amount of work that went into the detailing, the names, the stories. It's just amazing. Yours is worth so much more than that $1000. What a treasure.

thanks everyone, I'll be sure and show my sister all of the compliments on here. she'll be encouraged. We really are treasuring it and wondering who will inherit it when everyone is grown up, her kids or mine :)
